CAIO is the training and contest platform of the Cyprus AI Olympiad team. It is run by the organisers of the team’s training. This page explains what we collect about you, why, where it is kept and for how long.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and profile picture. If you sign in with Google or GitHub we receive only these from them, never your password or access to your other data or repositories. If you sign in with an email code, we store your email address.
- Your groups: which training groups you belong to and your role in them.
- Your work: the practice tasks you attempt, and in contests your personal code repository, your submissions, their scores and receipts, the files you upload, and any appeal you file.
- Activity in the contest lab: to support a fair review of results, the lab records when you run a notebook cell (its length and outcome, never its code), file saves and opens, window focus, the size of large pastes (never their text) and keystroke and pointer counts (never the keys themselves), and keeps copies of your notebooks. Nothing outside the lab is observed: no screen, camera, microphone or other browser tabs. The lab tells you when this is on.
- Technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
Why we use it
To give you access, run training and contests, grade your solutions, publish results, decide appeals, keep the contests fair and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Where it is kept
On our servers in the European Union (Hetzner, Finland). Contest computations may run at the High Performance Computing Facility of the Cyprus Institute. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend from its EU region. Google and GitHub are used only when you choose to sign in with them.
How long we keep it
- Your contest work, submissions, appeals and the jury’s decisions: 365 days after your participation (they are deleted together).
- Lab activity records and notebook copies: 90 days after your participation ends.
- Technical logs: 90 days.
Nothing is deleted while an appeal about it is still open. The organisers may adjust these periods; this page will show the current ones.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data or for it to be deleted. Material needed to decide an open appeal is kept until the appeal is closed. A record that a request was made and fulfilled is kept.
To make a request, contact the organisers of your training group.
